Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle
Below is a photo of the Kemps Ridley
sea turtle after recovery from successful surgery. The turtle was turned
over to South Carolina's Marine Resource division which held the turtle until
the surgical wound had healed and the turtle was eating on its own. The
turtle was released into the Atlantic off the coast of Charleston.
Approximately a half dozen sea turtles are turned in each year with varying
degrees of injury. Our veterinarian provides total care in most cases but
some more severe cases are turned over to Sea World in Orlando Florida for long
term care. Click on the images below for a closer look.
